Whether you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt and have a hankerin' for a grouper sandwich or you're out for an elegant evening before the Opera you now know where to go.

The Originals

These restaurants have a passionate desire to celebrate and preserve our community’s culinary “sense of being”. Today there are more than 50 member restaurants. Within a twenty-mile radius of downtown Sarasota, there are more Florida Trend Award and Zagat top-scoring restaurants than any other area of the state and every one of these award-winners is independently owned. We’re obsessed with the flavors that define our region and are always looking for ways to incorporate interesting styles of cuisine from around the world into our own brand of Sun Coast dining. From casual beach dining to an exquisite night on the town, he Originals guarantee that the meals you eat are freshly prepared using the best local ingredients combined with the heritage flavors the Sun Coast is famous for. You have our word on it.

Old Florida

Now if you're in the mood for a little fried seafood at a picnic table with a newspaper menu you'll want to steer toward the Old Florida list of restaurants. Boat over to MarVista on Longboat Key or Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar for fresh catch. Want to grab a bite at an authentic 50's drive- in burger joint? Head for The Hob Nob. The Casey Key Fish house is a favorite place to drink something frosty at the end of a long day on the water. You can swap fishing stories there with the best of 'em. These restaurants are part of the fabric of the Gulf Coast. Even though they are already crowded because they're so good, we are telling you where to find them.
